On Prayer

"And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray,go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly."
(words of Jesus from Matthew 5:27,28).
Sobering words from Jesus, somehow I can't help but think of the radio and television "evangelists" when reading these words. Our Lord is very explicit as far as what is acceptable and unacceptable in regards to worship.

I have aquestion, as a new Christian. . . .
I have read this and understand the scripture, and in regards to the radio "evangelists", Do you think if a man found his salvation by what a "radio evangelist' has spoke unto them. . . will the Father not reward the pastor openly for it??

A good question bumble bee---it appears that you have not been exposed to the erroneous and unbiblical teaching that dominates the cable television airways in the form of the TBN and Inspiration networks and far too many radio airways.Until Charter cable recently removed these two from our expanded cable package--I was dumbfounded by the distortion of scripture that are the rule, not the exception on these networks. The key messages usually center around their assertion that you can become wealthy, free of sickness and problems if you give money..to them.Get up any weekday morning between 6am and 7am and put on the BET cable channel--you'll see what I mean.
Yes--God will reward those who bring others to Jesus---BUT--there is a quote from scripture that I can't presently recall which book its from that says--God will judge those who preach and teach more strictly---that is a very sobering thought. If you look at my past months postings you will see that a main theme is that we Christians must take responsibility for our salvation---we are not to leave it to others, like TV and radio preachers--far too many people make the mistake of doing so--too many folks need to read their Bibles and leave literature related to the Bible alone.
May God Richly Bless You,Brother David
